About the job Nursing Supervisor Job Type : Permanent Position ***New Grads welcome to apply***Shift: Nights (6p-6a)We're actively recruiting for a Nursing Supervisor (RN) at a Long Term Care Facility in Kane, PAMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:•Must possess a current license in PA as a registered nurse•Must possess knowledge of: medical asepsis, body mechanics, personal care of residents, correct use and care of equipment, observation techniques, reporting and recording, thorough knowledge of nursing theory and it's application•Must be willing to possess knowledge of and comply with regulations, policies, procedures, contracts and philosophy of the institution•Must maintain a courteous and professional manner toward residents, visitors and co-workers and a dedication to meet the needs of the elderly•Must have awareness of cost containment, utilize time fully, and properly care for equipment•Must possess ability to accept and follow written and verbal directives•Must utilize good communication and observation skills•Exercise independent judgment and effectively deal with emergency situationsOTHER REQUIREMENTS:BLS (AHA) - Required COVID Vaccine - RequiredMust possess a current license in PA or a temporary work permit - Required at time of Interview GENERAL DUTIESPhysician's Computer Company: EHR/EMRAdministers and records medication, treatments and monitoring e.g. glucose checks, as ordered and reports and documents resident responseAccurately transcribes physician's ordersCompletes monthly summaries as scheduledReviews the care plan with NAs on monthly summary day and updates the care plan to reflect the residents current condition.Notifies the RN Supervisor immediately of a significant change in residents conditionReports and records changes in resident condition to the RN SupervisorCommunicates resident transfers to immediate family and via email to department headsCompletes transfer form for all transfersUpdates care plans with clear, concise, time limited goals to reflect resident condition and directs team to implement approachesAssists physicians with rounds, examinations and treatments as neededCollects laboratory specimens e.g.: urine, cultures, stool, etc. and arranges for delivery to Hospital with accurate and complete requisitions. Documents in PCC when laboratory work is doneOn resident death, supervises and assists with post mortem procedures. Assists with collection of resident's clothing and belongings. Notifies all department heads of death via email, makes phone calls as directed by RN SupervisorEncourages resident participation in scheduled activitiesReports to team changes in resident condition, care plan changes and any special assignments to be carried outAssists RN Supervisor with annual evaluations of nursing assistantsAlong with RN Supervisor, writes commendations and counseling records as neededAccurately completes incident reports or assists team members in writing reportDocuments weights and vital signs and follows up as needed, including reweighing residents if there is a three pound or more discrepancy from the last weightCleans and stocks treatment trays dailyPrepares daily report for the wingCounts narcotics with another nurse at beginning and end of shiftMaintains an accurate inventory of resident belongings - notes new items brought in and items removed from facilityMaintains work area in clean, orderly condition. Performs housekeeping assignments as scheduledSubmits maintenance requests as neededMaintains a clean, safe and healthy environment and reports potential safety hazardsSupervises and directs resident care by nursing assistants to insure the prescribed plan of care is carried outPerforms additional duties as directed by supervisorAttends care plan conference for residents on assigned wing if requestedAssists in orientation of new nursing staffAdjusts staffing assignments as needed to insure good resident careConducts team conferences as neededAssures that staff is familiar with changes in policies and proceduresUpdates the daily census as neededMonitors NA documentation for completeness and compliance with regulationsCollects data for quality assurance studies as directedMonitors nurse aide job performance for compliance with infection control practicesProvides direct care for residents as needed, within restrictionsSeeks clarification or guidance to perform job responsibilities when in doubtDocuments drug disposal on resident charts in PCC.Attends in-services, department and staff meetings, committee meetings as requiredAssist CNAs on the hall as needed
