The Flight Software Systems Engineering Lead role is part of the In-SpaceSystems business unit, which is passionate about development,manufacturing, and operation of satellite systems to address one of the mostcompelling challenges in spaceflight today: space mobility. As part of ahardworking team of software developers, you will ensure our flight softwaresatisfies the needs of our critical partners and craft the larger vehicle andground architectures and designs to enable us to successfully implement therequired capabilities.In this role you will provide the technical glue connecting our flightsoftware to the systems engineering functions across the program. You willhelp ensure the program requirements, operational descriptions, and systemdesigns have been shaped so that flight software can effectively meet ourcustomers' needs. The higher-level requirements will in turn need to bedecomposed into valid, well-written software requirements, interfaces,and designs that can be implemented by the development team. Throughout, youwill help guide the software development and testing, resulting in theverification of a complete flight software solution. To accomplish this, youwill work closely with our Architect, who is defining the structure of oursoftware, our Product Owner, who is defining the plan and top-levelcapabilities, and our Development and Verification Leads, who are ensuringthe detailed implementation is in line with our roadmap, architecture, andrequYou will also be responsible for documenting how and what the flight softwareteam produces by developing our standards and processes, and ensuring ourarchitecture, designs, interfaces, and software products are sufficient.This will require a systems-thinking approach as you must understand many ofthe architectural and design elements of the other systems so that you canalign our software interfaces and interactions with their needs.This role is central to ensuring a cohesive and relevant flight softwaredesign with well-defined interfaces that are fully understood and agreed to byour developers, customers, and partners. Ideally, there will be noassumptions in how the software will act or what capabilities it willprovide, allowing the software to integrate smoothly with the spacecraftsubsystems as the designs come together. Your efforts will also help ensure wemeet the needs of the other elements, including our Production, PayloadIntegration, and Operations teams. By proactively working the needs,requirements, and interfaces across the teams, our development team willbe able to move forward with speed and confidence.
