Job Summary:

Provides review and analysis of Cherokee Nation and business entities financial statements, operational analysis of investment projects, and provides overall support to the Financial Resources Management in oversight responsibilities.

Job Duties:

Assists in the preparation of analysis of monthly financial statements, budget reports, and other financial projects as assigned. Coordinates a timely and systematic flow of accounting reports and information to tribal departments, government agencies, and/or other entities. Prepares complex financial reports on special assignment. Appraises validity of documents for compliance with both funding guidelines or requirements and Cherokee Nation Policies and Procedures. Reviews accounts and transactions as specified by Financial Resources Management. Provides assistance to Financial Resources Management with research and project implementation. Reviews and evaluates the accuracy of calculations and postings in the financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records in the assigned area. Reviews and analyzes workflow and recommends revisions to facilitate and expedite the accounting process. Performs difficult and special accounting and/or auditing work as part of normal work assignments and as directed by supervisors. Prepares internal and external reports as assigned. Recommends and reviews policies and procedures to ensure compliance with funding guidelines or requirements. Develops and monitors long-term Capital Investment budgets. Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Bachelors degree from a 4-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, or related field; no substitutions.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

At least four (4) years of experience in a related field.

COMPUTER SKILLS

An individual should know Accounting software, Database software, Internet software, Project Management software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to working near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
