Overview:

Mendocino Forest Products Company, LLC. (MFP) is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This is an onsite position and can be based in either Calpella, CA or Santa Rosa, CA.

The base salary for this position is $80,000.00 to $85,000.00. Your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic locations, skills, education and/or experience. Please keep in mind that that the range published is the full base salary. We also offer a generous benefits package.

The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Collectively providing 950 employees and their families with excellent wages and benefits in communities throughout the Western USA. Additionally, the Mendocino Companies own and operate a 25-megaWatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant.

Responsibilities:

Summary

Under the direction of the Corporate Controller the Senior Accountant will support the Business Unit managers and staff by performing the following functions.

  • Assist in preparing reports for and interfacing with third party auditing firm.
  • Preparation of monthly income statements, balance sheets, and other financial reports.
  • Manages and prepares documentation and schedules for the monthly financial reporting package.
  • Participates in month-end close. Adjusts, analyzes, and prepares schedules and packages to distribute to sites.
  • Supports operations team with ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, expenses, financial commitments and obligations to predict futures revenues and expenses.
  • Investigates accounting issues and assists in planning and implementation of new procedures to assure accurate accounting data.
  • Responsible for various account reconciliations.
  • Assists corporate transaction team including corporate accounts payable, treasury and accounts receivable collections.
  • Work with Accounting Clerks to help attain Company and individual goals and objectives in accordance with Company guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year College/University.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a plus.
  • Two years of accounting experience required.
  • Experience should include working with all functions within an accounting department, including extensive general ledger accounting system experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret written job instructions, and company documents, write routine reports, and correspondence.
  • Knowledge of accounting software, spreadsheets, and word processing (MS Office Products).
  • Collect and research data, meets productivity standards, completes work in timely manner, strives to increase productivity and works quickly.
  • Uses intuition and experience to complement data.
  • Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions.
  • Works well in group problem solving situations and uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
