Position Overview:
The BerganKDV Tax Director is a technical leader and avid team player with deep experience with client service and business development. They are driven by the overall success of clients, their teams and the firm. The Tax Director will provide review, specialized, and ancillary services to the BerganKDV tax practice, while participating in firm activities outside of the tax practice.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver a full range of specialized tax, compliance and consulting services in compliance with laws, regulations and timelines
- Manage client engagements, staffing requirements, risk management, billing and engagement profitability across department team.
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of key client industries and participates in industry organizations; while also recognizing opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients.
- Provides formal training on related topics and assists in firm administration functions as assigned by partners.
- Achieve an advisor relationship in every client interaction, actively surfacing opportunities for your clients to further their business and goals. ?
- Be an active participant in business development meetings with the goal to build strong relationships and drive new client projects and revenue. ?Coordinate other internal groups to add value to client interactions.
- Established expertise within industry specialization with the goal to provide industry focused service. This may include attending or leading peer group meetings and industry organization involvement.
- Be a technical resource, sounding board, and leader for the tax team. This may require formal?and informal group training and one to one individualized coaching. ?
- Support the growth and professional development of yourself and your BerganKDV teammates by participating in company sponsored trainings, CPE courses, internal committees, and mentorship opportunities.
- Be transparent in your decisions, communicate effectively with your team, have open and honest dialogue, and be a flexible leader to accommodate various management styles.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting
- Master's in taxation preferred
- CPA certification required
- 12+ years of professional services experience with a record of high achievement a plus
- Significant personal brand in area of practice
- Excellent interpersonal skills?
- Strong written and verbal communication skills?
- Strong analytical, teamwork and organizational skills?
- Integrity, maturity, dependability, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic?
- PC proficiency, including spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software applications
- Analytical skills with high detail orientation
- Research?and understand professional frameworks, standards and guidance
- Knowledge of technology and tools best practices including tax software
- Strong desire to deliver high quality and consistent results and service
- Strong understanding of risk assessment, analysis and management
- Knowledge of measurement analysis and interpretation
- Experience with intelligent reporting and review
- Experience with systems and process management
- Strong advisory skills
