Contract Details Reporting To: VP, People & Culture Contract Length: 12 months + Work Location: remote Summary The Compensation Analyst Contractor will be responsible for providing specialized, project-based support for the administration, analysis, and execution of the organization's compensation programs. This contractor role requires deep expertise in compensation practices, market analysis, and job evaluation to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness. The Analyst will work closely with HR leadership and finance partners on specific compensation projects and reporting deliverables. Essential Scope of Work Market Pricing and Benchmarking: Conduct comprehensive market pricing activities for both existing and new job roles using external survey data and compensation tools. Analyze market trends and survey results to benchmark the organization's pay practices against defined labor markets, providing recommendations to maintain competitive pay structures. Job Evaluation and Structuring: Perform job evaluations and analyses to determine appropriate salary grades, job titles, and compensation ranges based on internal equity and external market data. Assist in the design, documentation, and maintenance of the company's salary structure, including pay grades and progression guidelines. Reporting and Compliance: Prepare detailed compensation reports and summaries for HR and Finance leadership, often involving complex data extraction and manipulation using Excel. Ensure all compensation practices and programs comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations (e.g., Fair Labor Standards Act - FLSA). Program Support: Support the annual merit and incentive review process by conducting audits, validating data, and modeling potential financial impacts. Collaborate with HR Business Partners on specific compensation issues, new hire offers, retention strategies, and promotional increases. Project Focus (Contract Duration): The specific project scope for the contract term will be defined at the start, but may include leading the migration to a new salary structure, validating all current roles against a new survey set, or auditing FLSA classifications. Qualifications and Experience Experience: Minimum of 5 years of direct, hands-on experience in compensation analysis and administration. Certification: Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation is highly preferred. Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, complex formulas) is required. Experience working with large-scale HRIS and compensation management systems (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle). Proven ability to work with and interpret large datasets accurately. Compensation Knowledge: Expert-level knowledge of compensation philosophy, design principles, market pricing methodologies, and statistical analysis. Strong understanding of federal and state wage and hour laws, including FLSA. Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to communicate complex compensation concepts clearly and concisely to non-expert audiences.
