Our Enterprise Architecture Group drives technological innovation and architectural excellence
across IDEXX IT, other business units, and R&D. This team is responsible for designing and implementing integrated software solutions, adhering to cloud-native best practices, and leveraging cutting-edge generative AI technologies. They manage large ecosystem initiatives, influence development teams, and IT Centers of Excellence, and operate the Enterprise Architecture Board, providing governance and oversight for applications interacting with IT systems, NetOps, DevOps, and Cybersecurity. Additionally, the IT Enterprise Architecture Group includes a New Product Development component focused on creating bespoke applications that offer unique software platform value beyond commercial products. By fostering cross-unit collaboration, this IT Enterprise Architecture group ensures that our technology platforms maximize asset utilization, improve efficiency, and enhance customer experience. This group's expertise in architecture, solution design, program leadership, and stakeholder engagement is integral to our mission of delivering innovative and efficient technology solutions.

Architecture and Solution Design:
- Provide expertise on software technology platforms and services to maximize investment opportunity and utilization.
- Design and implement integrated technical solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, business need, current technology, maximizing opportunities for innovation.
- Demonstrated expertise in standard architectural patterns and best practices for designing distributed systems in commercial cloud. These include Micro-services Architecture, API Gateway Pattern, Message-based, Event-Driven Architecture, Circuit Breaker Pattern, Saga Pattern, or Command Query Responsibility Segregation (CQRS)
- Document architecture states (past, present, future) and lead design discussions across organization.
- Architect technical landscapes for new projects, including Enterprise AI applications.
- Manage activities on large ecosystem initiatives across business units/group programs and projects.
- Influence across a matrix of development teams and IT centers of excellence, to shape innovative solutions that fit the business need.
- Coordinate work with internal developers, vendors, and contractors when necessary.
- Develop and execute an innovation strategy that aligns with IT EA and organizational goals.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their impact on IT enterprise architecture.
- Be an expert in industry trends and best practices to lead innovation discussions and development analysis.
- Drive innovation to scale efficiencies and productivity with Generative AI technologies and tools.
- Drive the development and oversight of generative AI and API functionality, harnessing the power of ISV-enabled AI solutions to unlock new enterprise application value, while maximizing the potential of our ISV innovations through strategic partnerships.
- Ensure alignment of enterprise AI architectures with technical and product leads across the business.
- Oversee the architecture lifecycle of technology and innovation in projects, ensuring they meet business requirements, IT governance, compliance, security and regulatory expectations.
- Work closely with project leads to estimate resource needs, forecasted technical spend, and duration of work.
- Provide technical leadership and support to product development teams in complex ecosystems.
- Develop and evolve enterprise architecture frameworks, principles, and standards.
- Ensure alignment between enterprise and solution architectures, and compliance with architectural standards.
- Drive continuous improvement, to optimize enterprise architecture over their lifecycle.
- Utilize data, metrics, and system tools to ensure efficiency and maximize customer experience.
- Ensure platform security and compliance, aligning technology with overall guidelines.
- Experience in distributed systems design for cloud, ensuring scalability, resiliency, reliability, security, and compliance. Demonstrated architecture solution development that aligns with line-of-business Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Recovery Time Objectives (RTO), Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), and adherence to industry-specific security and compliance requirements.
- Communicate with related departments to coordinate work and resolve issues.
- Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, manage iteration success metrics, and ensure project success.
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, technology, and innovation roles.
- Proven track record of delivering successful innovation projects and solutions.
- Experience with API development and integration (e.g., Mulesoft, FastAPI, Boomi, Workato).
- Experience with cloud computing technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP). One or more Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Experience with Generative AI application design principals, model/API integration, Prompt Engineering and Embeddings
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, data engineering, data science, or related field.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, system thinking, and analytical skills.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and communication abilities.
- Familiarity with IT governance frameworks (COBIT, ITIL) and DEVSECOPS principles.
