Position Title: Controller

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Compensation: $120,000 to $130,000

Job Summary: As the Controller for client's family office, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, reporting, and compliance for our family's wealth management and investment portfolio. You will play a critical role in maintaining the financial health of the family office, ensuring accurate accounting practices, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making. This position requires a strong background in finance, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of family office operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to provide accurate and timely financial information to stakeholders.
  • Develop customized financial reports tailored to the needs of family members, trustees, and advisors.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting efforts to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Monitor budget performance and variance analysis, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Oversee the accounting and reporting for the family's investment portfolio, including three of their business units.
  • Collaborate with investment advisors and asset managers to ensure accurate recording of investment transactions and performance measurement.
  • Manage cash flow and liquidity needs for the family office, including monitoring cash balances, optimizing cash reserves, and executing cash disbursements.
  • Implement cash management strategies to maximize returns while maintaining liquidity and managing risk.
  • Coordinate tax planning initiatives in collaboration with external tax advisors to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax efficiency for the family.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, including timely filing of tax returns and accurate reporting of taxable income.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the family office, including vendor management, insurance administration, and administrative support functions.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for family members, advisors, and external service providers, facilitating communication and resolving issues as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience within Public Accounting; preferably within a Public Tax Accounting position
  • Proficiency in tax planning and compliance for high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with family members, advisors, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
