PUC National is a non-profit organization that serves to promote, support, benefit, replicate, and carry out the purposes and mission of Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools.
We have a contractual relationship with Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools to provide a variety of support services to the schools in NE Los Angeles and the NE San Fernando Valley. This includes but is not limited to Finance, Human Resources, Operations, IT and Data Management, facilities identification and acquisition, fundraising, grant management, college access, alumni relations, charter development and renewal, and compliance.
The Team Member we are searching for
The ideal Food Service Operations Assistant believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC National and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, and collaboration to ensure schools' success across the organization. The Food Service Operations Assistant will support the day-to-day operations of food service programs across multiple PUC school sites. This role involves traveling to different schools to ensure smooth and efficient food service delivery, adherence to health and safety standards, and effective communication with school staff and vendors. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent customer service skills, a passion for nutrition and student well-being, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
What you will need to accomplish:
- Ensure and monitor the timely and accurate sorting, distribution, retention, and maintenance of financial, statistical, and official records, documents, and reports including but not limited to pay and commercial warrants and payroll time reports in accordance with established policies and procedures and quality control standards
- Collect, compile, compare, classify, tabulate, and record financial, statistical, and official documents and report, check, and verify for format, accuracy, and completeness prior to distribution and for archival purposes
- Ensure appropriate electronic storage and management of documents and reports in electronic document management systems
- Compose and review a variety of reports, correspondence, memos, forms, logs, and written materials
- Support PUC Schools office staff with troubleshooting and solving problems related to Titan Point of Service (POS) system and monthly reports
- Travel to school sites (approximately 30% of travel required) in the LA and Valley region, at least 2 times per month and more as needed
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food quality standards, and district policies
- Respond to requests and inquiries related to the functions and activities within the food services department in support of multiple school sites within a reasonable time frame
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and secure records and documents in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Interpret, train, and advise school staff on policies, regulations, and operational procedures as needed, virtually and/or in-person
- Maintain equipment inventory and initiate processes for the acquisition of materials, equipment, and supplies relating to food services
- Assist and support Director of Food Services during staff meetings related to office operations by preparing handouts, documents, presentations, etc.
- Organize all documentation related to food delivery and issues related to food services/vendors
- Organize the Food Services Department's monthly calendar to ensure meetings are scheduled with school leaders, office managers, and food service staff
- Assist with creating marketing and promotional materials including translating digital material to Spanish
- Attend required training including but not limited to the annual School Nutrition Association Conference and additional trainings required by CDE/NSLP which may require traveling out of town
- Promote a positive and professional image of the food service program through effective communication and a commitment to high-quality service
- Perform other duties as assigned
What do we require from you?
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Associate degree or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, related field, or equivalent training and experience required
- Minimum of two (2) year experience in an educational setting/food service operation
- Minimum of two (2) year of customer service experience
- Minimum of two (2) year experience with school nutrition procedures and food safety regulations
- Must have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with multiple school sites
- Knowledge of concepts and application of scheduling and excellent time management experience required
- Analyzing and interpreting data - previous experience drawing meaning and conclusions from quantitative and/or qualitative data preferred
- Valid CA driver's license and reliable transportation required
- Flexibility to work outside of regular hours, including early mornings or evenings, as needed
- Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and equipment, including clerical record-keeping, filing, and distribution systems and techniques
- Excellent customer service Skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience creating presentations using tools such as Canva
- Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems such as Titan/LINQ
- Proficient with the California Nutrition Information and Payment System (CNIPS) or willing to learn how to utilize CNIPS for state reimbursement purposes
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
