Manufacturing Quality Engineer

Since its founding over 75 years ago, we has developed into a trusted fluid control specialist serving leading OEMs and emerging companies in the Automotive, Medical, Consumer/ Specialty, Printer and Small Engine industries. The company maintains engineering and manufacturing facilities in North America, Europe and Asia as part of its strategy to provide customers with global reach and local support. We manufactures, assembles and tests complex flow-control components and devices utilizing a wide range of production technologies including rubber molding and finishing equipment. We are searching for an important addition to its team near Macon, GA, in Milledgeville, a Manufacturing & Quality Engineer.
Job Scope: The Manufacturing & Quality Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining production processes and quality systems. This position drives process improvement through implementation of appropriate automation, lean manufacturing methodologies, process optimization and process stabilization while also reducing the cost of poor quality through appropriate improvement, corrective and preventative measures. This person will serve as the primary customer interface for all quality related issues associated with the local facility.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Skills:
- Initiate and implement stable, capable manufacturing processes through lean manufacturing principles, automation and standard procedures.
- Support manufacturing processes, quality systems and employees with problem solving and training to drive improvements in quality, efficiency and safety.
- Leadership role in APQP, NPD, PPAP, MSA, Capital Planning and ROCCs planning and activities.
- Ensure alignment to ISO9001, IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards.
- Ensure that quality systems comply with customer system requirements and 3rd part certifications.
- Establish appropriate operational definitions (i.e. visual standards etc.) to differentiate between acceptable and nonconforming product
- Build appropriate statistical tools (i.e. SPC) and response plans into the quality system to drive down process variation
- Lead efforts to implement zero defect strategies
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering field (mechanical, chemical, industrial, or electrical).
- Minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing facility.
- Working knowledge of current ISO quality standards.
- Proven Problem Solver; demonstrated ability to determine true root cause.
- Must have experience and knowledge of one of the following; rubber, LSR, plastic materials, or assembly.
