As we embark upon rapid expansion, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced design and product development leader to join our team.

As the Vice President of Design and Product Development, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the creative direction across all existing and new product categories, including licensees. You will lead a talented team of designers, product developers and technical designers and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including but not limited to Merchandising, Marketing, Sales and Direct to Consumer to develop innovative, trend-setting collections that resonate with our core customer and appeal to a new audience. This role requires a dynamic individual with a keen eye for trend (color, fabric, design), strong leadership skills, and a passion for product and people. This role reports to the President and therefore is a key member of the senior leadership team.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Define and drive the overall creation and innovation for the brand, ensuring alignment with our brand ethos, target audience, and market trends.
Lead the end-to-end design process, from concept development and trend research to sketching, fabric selection and creation, and sample development. Oversee the creation of cohesive collections that reflect the brand's aesthetic and meet market demands and within target price goals.
Manage and mentor a team of designers, product developers and technical designers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to foster their growth and development. Encourage a collaborative and innovative work environment that inspires creativity and excellence.
Stay abreast of industry trends, consumer preferences, and market dynamics to anticipate emerging trends and opportunities. Translate insights into actionable design strategies that keep the brand ahead of the curve. Share the seasonal design vision cross functionally including sales and marketing.
Excellent eye for color and print/pattern.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment across all aspects of the business and drive cohesive brand storytelling.
Ensure successful adoption of line plan.
Maintain high standards of quality and craftsmanship across all product categories. Conduct regular reviews and provide feedback to ensure that designs meet brand standards and customer expectations.
Strict calendar adherence.
Intellectual curiousity and drive for efficiency, simplification and results

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field textile minor
Minimum 12 years of professional experience in fashion design with a focus on contemporary apparel, lounge or sleep. Candidate must have at least 8+ years management experience of cross functional teams.
In depth knowledge of all facets of concept, design, product development and best in class practices.
Proven track record of success in a design leadership role, with experience leading design and development teams and developing commercially successful product lines
Strong creative vision and ability to translate trends into innovative design concepts that align with the P.J. Salvage brand and resonate with our customer
The ability to present your ideas with the confidence to move an organization in an evolved direction
Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Expertise in knits and sweaters
Excellent sketching and illustration skills, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other design software
Deep understanding of garment construction, fabrication, and manufacturing processes
