SUMMARY: Essential to hospital operation and adherence to government and Osceola Regional Health Center's regulations and expectations for cleanliness, safety and sanitation, and infection control. Maintains a clean work environment in all assigned areas which may include both patient and non-patient areas. Washes, dries, and transports linen as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or general education degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS: NA

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Cleans occupied patient rooms daily and upon patient discharge.
  2. Always follows guidelines for infection control.
  3. Maintains a clean and neat working environment for areas of the hospital and may be responsible for cleaning at other hospital affiliated entities; Heartwood Heights.
  1. Collects, sorts, and washes soiled linen, dries, sorts, and folds clean linen. Weighs and records linen usage by department.
  2. Keeps cleaning agents properly labeled and stored according to policies and procedures and in compliance with OSHA guidelines and regulations.
  3. Understands all chemicals used in the laundry area and knows the location and use of material safety data sheets (MSDS).
  4. Participates in all cleaning activities as assigned. These may include, but not be limited to: dusting, washing, drying, mopping, vacuuming, moving furniture, and emptying trash.
  5. Other duties as assigned.
