Responsibilities Responsibilities Coordinates, implements, and maintains injury prevention program based on local trauma data. Evaluates injury prevention program success in meeting objectives. Collaborates with other hospital and local community partners to provide injury prevention activities. This includes participating in professional organizations. Provides follow-up contact with referring physicians/facilities/EMS as indicated through written and verbal communication. Serves as a resource for outlying facility and EMS for trauma related education/prevention and quality improvement; assists with program development as requested. Identifies possible learning needs of the nursing staff, patients, student, professionals and lay community regarding the trauma population and arranges programs to meet these needs. Assists with educational endeavors by the trauma department. Prepares and submits effective grants for trauma injury prevention funding. Remains knowledgeable on injury prevention legislation activities. Actively participates in strategic planning for the trauma division. Responsible for (Level III) or assists in (Level I) preparation for State designation site survey and ACS verification survey. Collaboratively assures compliance with the State regulations as well as ACS regulatory standards. Assists in the development of department policies, procedures and objectives. Participates in trauma research initiatives. Functions as a patient advocate and encourages patient advocacy through the multidisciplinary team approach. Member of Trauma Quality Improvement Committee (Patient Safety and Performance Improvement). At Level III centers, will assist the Trauma Medical Director to facilitate the committee meetings. Coordinates (Level III) or assists in (Level I) the design, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement programs related to trauma patient care and monitor/report outcomes. (Level III) ensures timely and accurate data entry into the trauma registry with the assistance of trauma registrars, and that registry data is provided to . Works collaboratively with the Trauma Medical Director to ensure continuity in care of all injured patients and quality outcomes. Qualifications Qualifications Required Education for Staff Job Levels: BSN or BSN must be obtained within 5 years of hire Required Licensure and Certifications: Must hold a valid RN compact multistate license or single state license to practice in Nebraska or Iowa depending on work stat Preferred Qualifications: BSN or MSN; Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience as a registered nurse in a trauma setting (emergency department or critical care).
