Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Five (5) years of full-time management experience in College Housing. Experience supervising professional staff. Experience working with a diverse campus population of students, faculty, staff, and outside constituencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education, or related field. Experience with developing and implementing staff training programs. Experience with budget preparation, coordination, and/or tracking of expenses. Leadership experience on a department or division level. Experience with student crisis and risk management. Experience advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Experience with conference housing. Experience in managing housing databases, rosters, and billing. Experience working with internal and external clients and revenue generation.
Administration and Operation:
- Set standards for Conference Housing operations for both campuses including: Linen management, Agreement, rates, and billing practices and processes.
- Leads the advisors and chairs of the West Campus Conference Housing Committee which is a partnership between the Residential Education and Housing Administration.
- Partners with West Campus Directors of Business Operations, Safety and Support, and IT for all Southampton Campus needs.
- Implement a comprehensive training program for all Summer and Conference Housing staff including mandatory SUNY Child Safety Protocol training.
- Monitor conference housing operations to ensure that NYS Safety Plans for Youth Academic/Cultural Enrichment Conferences and Sports Camps are in place and adhered to.
- Provide leadership to the Director of Student Life, Office Coordinator, Residence Hall Director and student staff at Southampton for all conference and housing operations.
- Responsible for investigating, responding to, and answering questions and concerns related to housing occupancy and housing administration protocols.
- Support and assist the Director of Housing Administration in projections, policy development, and managing campus partners needs for Conference Housing and Southampton.
Functional Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Campus Residences lead for admissions-related events for Southampton.
- Responsible for building partnerships to increase academic year housing at Southampton and Conference Housing for both campuses.
- Meet regularly with the Director of Student Life at Southampton to evaluate, plan, and implement major opening, closing, occupancy, and area office management processes.
- Coordinate all efforts related to academic year occupancy management.
- Ensure assignment accuracy and maintain procedures for all emergency reassignments.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Student Financial Services to ensure financial accuracy.
- Audit and ensure financial transactions and student billing are accurate.
- Partner with Residential Education and Facilities to ensure room readiness, facilitate quick room turn-overs, and efficiently manage occupancy issues.
- Attends CPDC and COM coordination meetings for Southampton and Conference Housing representation.
- Develop recruitment plans and strategies with University Conference and Event Services.
Staff Supervision:
- Recruit, select, supervise, and evaluate professional, administrative, and student staff members.
- Advise, direct, support, and develop team members through daily supervision and regular staff meetings.
- Facilitate the ongoing training and skill development for team members.
- Promote group cohesion and a sense of teamwork.
- Promote staff growth through individual contact, regular staff meetings, training activities, and workshops.
- Regularly assess staff training needs and work with colleagues to offer programs to meet those needs.
- Direct and lead the creation and implementation of University and departmental engagement initiatives and educational activities.
- Provide and encourage continued professional development for team members.
- Provide expectations, standards, and indirect supervision to Southampton Fitness Center staff and West Campus front office assistants.
Crisis and Risk Management:
- Serve as a resource during crisis situations involving student and conference housing assignments.
- Liaison with campus partners in CARE and Student Support Teams.
- Respond to after-hours emergencies that relate to housing reassignments.
- Develop plans and resources to be prepared for larger-scale reassignments due to unanticipated environmental crises.
Professional Development and Committee Involvement
- Participates in opportunities that promote their learning, growth, and development.
- Contributes to the Division of Student Affairs and Stony Brook University by attending and/or supporting events, activities, and programs.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
- Evening and weekend work may be required at times.
Special Notes: This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employees base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
