This is accomplished by assisting the physician’s with the care and treatment of their patients in the clinic. Essential Functions: 1. Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients. Reviews patient records. 2. Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed. 3. Performs physical exams and records findings and establishes presumptive diagnosis. 4. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. 5. Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention. 6. Prepares written/electronic prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances. 7. Provide timely and accurate dissemination of patient information (dictations) to all referring physicians. 8. Interviews and advises patients regarding health, diet and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs. 9. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides patient education. 10. May assists physicians by recording patient progress notes, issues diagnostic orders, and transcribes orders. 11. Mid-level providers will keep their EMR desktops up to date with no more than a 24 hour lag on dragon speak and use of ribbon/typing and a 48 hour lag on labs and imaging studies. 12. Effectively communicates with clinic medical assistants and nurses to address patient communications related to plan of care, test results, and patient concerns between appointments. 13. Knowledge and participation in CMS and ACO quality reporting and reimbursement programs. 14. Meets at least monthly with supervising physician to review patients. 15. Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. 16. Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested. 17. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. 18. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. 19. Complies with all GIC office policies and procedures to include HIPAA, OSHA, and the employee handbook. 20. All other duties as assigned. Education: Graduation from an accredited Physician’s Assistant Program, or APRN Program Must be a licensed Physician’s Assistant, or APRN in the state of Nevada Certified by a National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants or Nurse Practitioner Licensed by Nevada Board of Medical Examiners & Nevada Board of Pharmacy Experience/Skills/Knowledge: 1. Knowledge of gastro-intestinal medical practice and care with proven ability to give and evaluate patient care. 2. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures relevant to administer patient care. 3. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. 4. Skill in using EMR (electronic Medical Records) software 5. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. 6. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of gastrointestinal medicine to provide on-going patient care. 7. Skill in taking medical history, assessing medical condition and interpreting findings. 8. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. 9. Skill in developing and maintaining department of quality assurance. 10. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. 11. Ability to maintain quality control standards. 12. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. 13. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. 14. Ability to communicate clearly.
