Job Description

The Accountant I is responsible for preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, financial reports, and compiling, maintaining, and reconciling general ledger accounts.

This position will serve our HTPG division, located in Scottsboro, AL.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares accounting records including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined within the department.
  • Maintains general ledger including preparation of journal entries & invoice coding.
  • Reconciles subsidiary accounts to control accounts, tracing discrepancies to original documents and initiate necessary adjusting entries.
  • Prepares intercompany and interplant billings to respective locations.
  • Reconciles intercompany and interplant accounts for all companies.
  • Works under direct supervision of department leadership with occasional independence on projects in scope.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Zero to three years experience in accounting.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrates ability to work well with others in a matrix team environment.
  • Experience with financial reporting.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner.
  • Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in related field.
  • Experience with Oracle systems.
  • Manufacturing industry experience desirable.
