PRIMARY PURPOSE: This role provides credit analysis for new and existing business members and provides support to the Commercial Lenders in managing risk in the commercial loan portfolio. Performs credit analysis, assesses risk, and assigns risk ratings to borrowing relationships to make loan approval recommendations for medium to large size loans with increasing complexity. This role also conducts annual reviews of existing loans, in addition to providing analysis on Problem Loan Reviews, and ensures compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to monitor borrower and portfolio health on an ongoing basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Independently interpret credit and lending policies to prepare written credit presentations and approval recommendations, providing a detailed analysis of borrower's repayment capacity and project risks on loans ranging from $ 1 million to $30 million in size;
  • Prepare and analyze financial spreads and other relevant information to assess borrower's ability to repay existing loans and new loan requests interpreting and using financial statements, tax returns and projections;
  • Evaluate borrower's profitability, liquidity, leverage, capital structure and other key metrics as compared to similar industry or property types;
  • Analyze and evaluate financial capacity of loan guarantors, including preparation of global cash flow analysis;
  • Research & evaluate borrower's background, management capability, industry position and competitor's strength;
  • Assist in collection of information for annual review preparation to support prudent loan portfolio management and ensuring compliance with NCUA guidelines, as needed;
  • Participate in organizational initiatives such as M&A activities and NCUA examination, as assigned;
  • Other duties as assigned by manager related to the Commercial Services department.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Continuing education and networking throughout the year to gather knowledge of changing industry trends that impact risk to Wings and borrowers;
  • Complete all applicable compliance training and/or sales tutorials within established timelines.
  • Attend Business Loan Review Committee meetings to assist commercial lenders with new credit request presentations and annual credit reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 3 years work experience with commercial credit analysis, or other relevant experience demonstrating increased levels of accountability and knowledge required
  • College degree
  • Ability to independently apply analysis techniques for debt service coverage, guarantor strength, collateral value, sensitivity analysis, and industry/market analysis
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry trends and monitoring tools/techniques
  • Excellent written communication skills required, particularly in writing for an executive audience; must accurately and thoroughly be able to reflect credit risk analysis recommendations in a clear and concise manner
  • Understanding of problem loan workout and monitoring techniques
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work with individuals and teams at all levels, inside and outside of the organization
  • Experienced and proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experienced and proficient in the use of financial spreading and analysis software, with preference for experience using the nCino platform
