Join our client as the Comptroller, where you'll collaborate closely with the town to oversee the fiscal management of the town's finances. You'll play a key role in developing financial strategies, managing accounts, and ensuring compliance with government regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day town accounts and assist with financial planning.
  • Prepare the Town Budget and oversee cash flow management.
  • Ensure government compliance in all financial activities.
  • Implement auditing procedures for the town's finances and authorize payment of claims.
  • Prepare financial abstracts for review by the Town Board.
  • Plan short and long-term financing for capital projects and liaise with financial institutions and legal advisors.
  • Interpret financial statements and provide reports to the Town Board.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Municipal experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in financial software
  • Strong understanding of New York State town laws and regulations.
  • Knowledgeable in financial and accounting practices related to municipal funds.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to lead and supervise administrative, accounting, and clerical staff.
  • Proficient in using computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, and database software.
