RESPONSIBILITIES Performs phlebotomy and ensures accurate collection of requested tests from patient through venipuncture, fingerstick or heelstick. Maintains positive patient identification during specimen collection. Communicates to nursing personnel or physician office relative or discrepant patient identification, fasting requirements or other related factors regarding collection. MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent 1-3 years' prior experience preferred. Certain laboratory locations may require phlebotomy training that includes a minimum of 100 hours rotation within an inpatient hospital setting/physician office.
