DCF Volunteer Coordinator Refugee Program IRC Tallahassee

This VISTA position is part of a larger state-wide project: The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Refugee Services Program is partnering with the Corporation for National and Community Service to increase services to refugees living in Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Clearwater, Tallahassee, Broward, Palm Beach, and Orlando by building capacity and coordinating activities and services between eight (8) participating organizations. As the project Sponsor, DCF Refugee Services oversees this VISTA project. DCF also manages the project grant and provides overall project coordination. The project will engage several VISTA members across eight (8) non-profit organizations. These VISTAs serve on a variety of projects to help resettled refugees achieve economic self-sufficiency and community integration. This coordinated effort will help these organizations to provide increased services to refugees who are making the difficult transition of adjusting to life in America. Member Duties : The Volunteer Coordinator for Refugee Youth Programs will serve with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Tallahassee. The Volunteer Coordinator will help manage and further develop the mentoring and tutoring program to assist refugee youth and young adults. The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit, interview, and train volunteers and mentors who will be matched with refugee clients. The Volunteer Coordinator will work with IRC staff to establish and maintain a working group to assist with fundraising goals that support the refugee youth tutoring program and to help students achieve academic success. In addition to other VISTA benefits, there is a VISTA Living Allowance for this specific position.
