Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook Supervisor without more than normal supervision, performing a full range of difficult and complex food preparation techniques such as planning, organizing work assignments, and managing equipment and supplies. I have a practical understanding of the physical changes that occur during the processing and cooking of food. I am skilled in the planning process involved in cooking an entire meal and how to schedule and coordinate their preparation to produce a properly cooked meal on time. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices Physical Requirement: Perform work requiring continual standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling, and bending. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 40 pounds with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Work Conditions: The work is performed in kitchen areas, which are well lit, but are often hot and noisy. Cooks are exposed to steam, fumes, and odors from cooking and to extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units. There is danger of slipping on wet floors that have been recently mopped, or where food has been spilled.
