Description Excel Engineering, Inc. is seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated individual for a Junior Automation Engineer position at our South Carolina office in Greenville, SC. We offer Professional Technical Services to our Clients in the US and abroad. This position works closely with other engineers, project managers, and Client team members in support of both capital and operational improvement projects. The position requires implementing sound engineering principles to ensure project designs are safe and at the industry’s cutting edge. An ability to work independently, self-motivate, and communicate effectively with team members is of the utmost importance to this position. In this position, this person will be managing and executing assigned projects from Firm Leadership. This will include coordinating with end-users, vendors, contractors, and others to successfully execute and deliver desired results on-time and within budget. Primary Responsibilities Design electrical and Fluid schematic packages by laying out I/O, designing magnetic circuits, fusing, control panel layouts, bills of material, and cable layouts. Perform the required sizing calculation for power, heat dissipation, wire sizing, fusing, etc. Perform the required calculations for Control System network layout and traffic analysis. Work with Client to develop project scope and estimate. Develop proposals and carry project through completion. Lead large projects by defining and issuing work to assigned team members or run multiple small projects with minimal direction. Create all project documents according to internal processes to ensure that designs meet Client’s expectations. Create Programmable Logical Control (PLC) programs and HMI applications from User Requirements or Functional Specifications. Specify and configure VFD and Servo drives for applications. Perform system validation according to scope documentation and project requirements. Direct assigned team in the field and assign priorities consistent with project needs; report progress to project and engineering management. Willingness to travel, up to 20%. Requirements Experience Minimum of (10) or more years’ experience as an industrial control system/automation engineer. Industrial electrical design experience in the following industries preferred: Consumer Goods, Renewable Energy; Gas Processing, Chemical, Power, Waste Management or Pharmaceutical. Education Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or equivalent experience is required. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 Scale. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal; ability to generate high quality reports and presentations.
