Glass industry experience preferred. What You Will Be Doing: As a Boxing/Packer, you will be responsible for inspecting finished glass products for quality defects and loading inspected glass into crates. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(other duties may be assigned): Inspects product for any abnormalities, cracks, chips, etc. Loads and unloads trucks and racks of glass; packs and stacks product in appropriate areas. Builds wooden crate around the product or fabricates the container and places product within. Transports glass or other materials from one position/location to another to expedite the production process. Straps glass to the carts and or trucks so they are safe for moving. Pack, skid, band, brace, cover, and weigh parts and/or the fabricated container as required. Daily inspections – Look for any unsafe objects, check equipment, etc. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Skills You Bring: MINIMUM SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS include the following: The ability to lift 75 lbs. by yourself, 150 in tandem. The ability to accurately read a tape measure. The ability to stand for long periods of time. The ability to communicate, and to work as part of a team. The ability to work in high heat manufacturing facility. Working knowledge of plant operations, computers, hoists, and lifts preferred. Glass industry experience is a plus. Woodworking/carpentry skills are a plus.
