Starting pay is $27.13/hour (This rate is non-negotiable and there is a 6-month probationary period). In this position, you have the potential of making up to $36.43/hour. For more information, reference the AFSCME collective bargaining agreement: AFSCME Union Contract Benefits offered with this position: AFSCME Benefits Summary Role Summary To assist in evaluating and assessing the value of real and personal property throughout the City of Ann Arbor. Essential Duties: Review building permits and conduct site inspections of residential property for purposes of adding new construction to the assessment roll. Use Apex Sketching software to draw the property they visited. Defend values at the Michigan Tax Tribunal. Assist with the canvassing of personal property and conduct audits of personal property. Assist with the daily entry of assessment information, both real and personal property into the assessor database for March, July, and December Board of Review. Assist with phone calls from residents and talk with customers at the front counter. Training and Experience Required: High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent. Experience in real or personal property appraisal: at least one year. Training and Experience Preferred: Associate’s degree in assessment administration, business administration, accounting, engineering, or a related field. Minimal Licensing Requirements (position requirements at entry): Valid MI Driver’s License. State Tax Commission – Michigan Certified Assessing Technician (MCAT), or State Licensed Appraiser.
