Position Overview

Navistar's Vehicle Engineering Team is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to be located at our World Headquarters, in Lisle, Illinois. This role requires advanced vehicle knowledge and decision-making skills. They will serve as a central resource for the management and execution of vehicle engineering deliverables including project charter, requirements, vehicle builds, development, validation, change management, issue resolution, and program milestone reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Leads problem solving of engineering issues.
  • Manages gate reviews for programs from concept charter thru Job1.
  • Manages validation planning and execution including engine and vehicle builds.
  • May provide direction and guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Responsible for managing multiple projects and leading technical and analytical discussions with cross functional teams.
  • Requires an understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software systems as well as a process driven problem-solving methodology.
  • Responsible for understanding the end goal of the vehicle and features in order to develop the most optimized validation plan for each project.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
  • At least 8 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
  • At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
  • At least 6 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
  • At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
  • PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
  • At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
  • At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

  • Extensive knowledge of Vehicle Systems, interdependencies, and their impact upon functional performance
  • Solid understanding of truck applications and associated product requirements
  • Prior design responsibility and/or release authority
  • Proven ability to problem-solve.
  • Prior predictive analysis or test experience
  • Proven leadership skills - demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects and drive to completion
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and accurately scope, plan, and schedule projects
  • Effective teaming skills - proven ability to function effectively in a cross-functional team, to organize people and activities.
  • Excellent oral, written, and communication skills.
  • Ability to drive and meet deadlines.
