Job Description SummaryThe Senior Engineer - Product Safety will help bring to market our next generation of industry leading products across the GE Aerospace Avionics and Electrical Power portfolio (e.g. Navigation and Guidance, Computing and Networking, Electrical Power Generation). In this role, you will work with a cross-functional leadership team to support the development and execution of the Safety organization’s strategic vision, enabling the consistent execution of safety activities for civil and military products throughout the entire product life-cycle. You will be a recognized expert and leader within the specialized field of Safety engineering, demonstrating passion for system design, safety risk management, and mentoring others.Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities: Work with leadership to define and implement a safety program plans for large, complex development programs across the GE Aerospace Avionics and Electrical Power product areasWork with Safety leadership to represent and advance the interests of the safety community with executive leadership, including both technical and organizational initiativesSupport technical education in the Safety Engineering disciplineSupport maintaining a framework for developing early-career engineers in the Safety engineering disciplinePromote a robust safety culture across the varied product area engineering teamsProvide strategic technical leadership in support of resolving complex safety considerations in all phases of a product’s life-cycle (e.g. development, test, and operation)Support senior members of the safety team in leading their projects to successful outcomesSteer future technology roadmaps by participating in technology / methodology trade studies and research / development programsParticipate in industry working groups to influence technology/industry/regulatory trends.Take an active leadership role in Design Board(s) and/or the internal technical community.Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college or universityMinimum of 7 years of related experience in the aerospace industryDesired Characteristics10 years of related experience in the aerospace industry with direct experience in Safety engineeringStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsProven ability to analyze data to identify process improvementsDemonstrated ability to promote and implement change within a businessDemonstrated influencing skillsDemonstrated ability to provide mentoring and/or formal training in Safety Engineering to engineers at all levels of experienceAbility to successfully facilitate multiple efforts or projects to meet project deliverablesDemonstrated ability to effectively present technical data to executive leadershipStrong oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated competency in using standard business software and toolsSome of our competitive benefits package includes:Medical, dental, and vision insurance that begins on the first day of employmentPermissive time off policy for newly hired employeesGenerous 401(k) planTuition ReimbursementLife insurance and disability coverageAnd moreThis position may be eligible for the following flexible work arrangements (FWA):Hybrid work scheduleRemote WorkThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
