Job Overview: The Senior Accountant operates as a liaison between the sales and project management of the entire company and the accounting department for all job costing related items. The individual is responsible for aiding in project setup, tracking project costs, communicating any budget variances, and driving the invoicing process. The position also performs general accounting functions including general ledger account balancing, bank reconciliations, financial and ad hoc reports, and any tasks needed to support the department and the company. The position plays a role with the management of the accounting department and the company on implementation of new processes, procedures, technology and company improvements. This position will adhere to all policies, procedures and guidelines established by Rasmussen Mechanical Services on a corporate basis. Responsibilities: Project setup in accounting systems including change order management Perform monthly project audits with sales and project management company wide to communicate budget variances and identify and communicate issues to accounting and operations management Create and review job billing status reports to ensure all projects are invoices in a time manner Create and manage all job cost accounting reports including training sales and project management on how to understand the information Perform monthly rental equipment billing and project audits on rental contracts Request bonds, certificates of insurance, and any other items needed related to the administration of jobs Assist in customer contract review and requirements on large projects prior to RMS signing the contract Perform month end procedures and monthly balancing of revenue recognition Perform Monthly bank reconciliations. Create and distribute monthly reporting including financials, ad hoc reporting, sales reports, etc. Actively participate with the Accounting Department management on department and company- wide projects related to new processes, procedures, technology, and company improvements Other functions and responsibilities as necessary to assist in the workload of the Accounting Department Support the Management of Rasmussen Mechanical Services and act as a resource in gathering information, researching issues, etc. Experience: Must possess a BSBA in Accounting degree. Three plus years of qualified accounting experience to meet the needs of this position. Experience in accounting for construction industry related business or service-related business preferred. Skills: Strong computer skills, with emphasis using Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel Ability to work with minimal supervision Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills Strong organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communications skills Effective team participation and building skills Work under pressure with the ability to remain calm and pleasant Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work Ability to accommodate additional responsibilities, as assigned Physical & Mental Requirements: Must be able to lift 25-30 lbs. Must be able to sit for long periods of time and operate business equipment. Must be able to read / hear / write / spell / type and speak English clearly. Must be able to understand and follow written instructions, communicate effectively orally and written, and must be able to listen effectively. Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
