Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced leader in Aquatics to join our team under the direction of the Witham YMCA Executive Director. The Aquatics Director will play a pivotal role in supervising the development of our Aquatics department, working closely with physical education and program-related committees to ensure alignment with our mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, administer, and control department budgets in consultation with the Center Executive.
  • Select, train, and supervise paid and volunteer department staff.
  • Interpret Association goals, objectives, and policies to the community and constituency.
  • Evaluate programs and recommend changes to align with Center and Association goals.
  • Guide center committees in formulating policies and programs consistent with our mission.
  • Prepare reports as required and share responsibilities for center supervision, public relations, and promotions.
  • Assist in the international aspect of the Association, including World Service education and fundraising.
  • Evaluate department personnel performance and ensure the care and upkeep of department equipment and facilities.
  • Provide leadership to specific programs as agreed upon with the Center Executive Director.
  • Assist with any other projects or activities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in physical education, recreation, or a related field (aquatic/fitness emphasis preferred), or equivalent professional experience.
  • Two to three years of experience in a YMCA or similar agency, with a strong understanding of YMCA philosophy and values.
  • Current certifications (or willingness to obtain certifications) in CPR, First Aid, Lifeguarding, and Certified Pool Operator (CPO)/YMCA of the USA Pool Operator.
  • Demonstrated administrative skills, including budget management, personnel supervision, and program planning.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a team-oriented approach.
