The Loan Review Officer performs loan reviews of the Bank's commercial loan portfolio: analyzing and identifying current loans to validate loan grading, identifying potential documentation and underwriting weaknesses, anticipating potential problem loans, identifying adverse trends, and auditing for policy compliance. The Loan Review Officer prepares work papers on loans reviewed, helps in gathering information for reports delivered to Senior Management and Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. The Loan Review Officer will report to the Loan Review Manager.
  • Conduct systematic reviews of credit portfolios to determine credit and loan performance, and adequacy of risk management.
  • Analyze the accuracy of Credit Risk Grade analysis performed by participants in the credit approval process.
  • Review the current risk profile of credit exposures and validate assigned ratings, or if needed, recommend rating changes.
  • Prepare Credit Assessment and Review reports and/or Loan Review reports.
  • Remain current on bank policy and government regulations and contribute to the department's continuous monitoring activities.
  • Participate in various meetings as requested by management.
  • Provide direction and mentor other bank employees.
  • Work on ad hoc projects, as requested.
  • Complete on-going training to help bank stay compliant with regulations.
Experience and Skills
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college preferred in finance, accounting, or related degree.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in commercial lending, commercial credit review, or commercial credit audit.
  • Effective verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Strong working knowledge and proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of commercial cash flow analysis.
  • Knowledge of SBA Lending practices desired
  • Knowledge of loan documentation fundamentals.
