Department Overview

T&S is responsible for the maintenance and construction of the Electric Transmission system, Project and Construction, Generation Interconnections, Work and Resource Management, Compliance, and Temporary Generation departments. The Coworkers of Electric Transmission and Substation Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. T-Line M&C executes high-risk maintenance and construction activities to enhance public safety and grid operation.

Position Summary

The Senior Director of T-Line Operations leads all operational aspects of T-Line, including system inspection, maintenance, and construction for capital projects and ongoing work. This role collaborates with various functions like Health and Safety, Planning and Strategy, Standards and Work Methods, Engineering, Asset Management to ensure safe operations and uphold our commitment to safety.

This position is hybrid, involving remote work and on-site presence as needed. It also includes traveling for field visits and job site inspections across the PG&E Service Territory.

PG&E offers a competitive salary range for this position, taking into account various factors such as skills, experience, and market conditions.

Reporting Relationship

This role reports to the Vice President of Transmission and Substation Operations.

Job Responsibilities Strategic Planning and Leadership
  • Focus on Safety Excellence and fostering a safety-conscious culture.
  • Developing and implementing short and long-term strategies for T-Line reliability, safety, and emergency response.
  • Coordinating with different teams to ensure performance expectations and feedback are clear.
  • Collaborating with HR to maintain high performance standards and coach employees.
  • Building strong relationships with business partners to address technical challenges and offer solutions.
  • Participating in utility best practices events and implementing Lean Plays for continuous improvement.
  • Developing plans for performance improvement, system reliability, and emergency response readiness.
Resource Management
  • Working with peers to mobilize resources efficiently for annual work plans.
  • Managing budgets for construction and maintenance projects.
  • Overseeing budgets, staffing plans, and ensuring work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Driving Best in Class Safety Behavior and ensuring safety programs are well-executed.

  • Managing a team of approximately 600 employees.
  • Traveling for field visits and occasional overnight stays.

Background Qualifications Minimum
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 10 years of utility operations experience with some management background.
