Apparatus Repair & Engineering, Inc. (AR&E) is a family-owned business that has been involved in the community for over 25 years. We specialize in electric motors, pumps, generators, and controls. We are looking for a talented Customer Service & Shop Associate to join our team. Description of the broad function & scope of position:
The most important aspect of this job is good and positive communication with customers, co-workers, and vendors.
Perform over-the-counter sales to customers coming into our facility as well as over the phone (from order taking, researching & pricing to invoicing customers).
Research and identify suitable replacement equipment based on customer needs (both over the counter and for the shop team).
Perform basic testing on electromechanical equipment to determine if they need to enter the shop for repair or direct replacement and document accordingly.
Perform shipping (mostly small packages) and receiving.
Create job tickets, take incoming photos, and correctly label parts / equipment going into the shop.
Responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of products to customers as well as pickups from vendors as needed.
Check stock inventory levels and work with purchasing to reorder parts.
Be willing and able to get forklift certified to be able to correctly and efficiently load/offload AR&E vehicles, customer vehicles, and vendor vehicles.
Assist management with organization of parts / equipment ready for pickup.
Take customer deposits on jobs coming in for repair.
Assist the operations manager with any new projects for the counter and repair shop areas.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent Communication skills, which includes verbal and written.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective relationships to achieve successful results with coworkers, customers, and vendors.
Effective problem-solving skills using analytical techniques to ensure successful corrective actions.
The ability to perform and retain various job-related training, operations, and safety procedures.
Good attention to detail to ensure all work and sales orders are correct.
The ability or willingness to learn to use a forklift and overhead crane for safely offloading vendor and customers.
A high school diploma or GED is required.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Schedule: Monday to Friday 8a to 5p with a 1-hour lunch
