Riverside Animal Hospital is growing and seeking a veterinary assistant to join our clinic family We are currently a one-doctor, appointment-only practice. We do not have overnight shifts or on-call hours. Our patient roster includes companion pets, pocket pets, and some exotics. Full-time and part-time hours are available.

Veterinary Assistant Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Obtain client information patient medical history
• Bring animals back to the exam room and perform an initial evaluation
• Perform diagnostics, digital radiographs, in-house and reference laboratory (IDEXX)
• Assist in holding and restraining animals during exams and surgical procedures
• Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and tools
• Ensure exam rooms are stocked and sterilized
• Change animal bandages, bedding, and kennel materials
• Ensure all cages and kennels are clean
• Administer medications
• Assist in collecting samples such as blood or urine for testing
• Communicate with owners and families on instructions
• Perform administrative duties such as updating files and processing payments

Veterinary Assistant Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience in animal care or in a clinic preferred
• Able to communicate clearly with clients and staff
• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Basic understanding of animal behavior and health care
• Passion for working with animals and their owners
• Attention to detail in order to maintain accurate patient records
• Physical ability to restrain larger pets when necessary
