POSITION

Title: Portfolio Analyst

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Reports to: Managing Directors

QUALIFICATIONS

The Portfolio Analyst will possess exceptional critical thinking and interpersonal skills.

Specifically, the most competitive candidate profiles feature:

  • Bachelors degree with one to three years of relevant industry experience (public accounting, commercial banking, valuation services, transaction advisory services or the equivalent)
  • Outstanding organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment
  • Entrepreneurial drive with the desire to be a member of a growing business and contribute to its success
  • Highest professional and ethical standards with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Demonstrated self-starter with business curiosity and sound judgment
  • Ability and willingness to work in the office
  • Must be effective working in a cross-functional and peer-based team while taking on differing roles and responsibilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of credit terms and structures, legal documentation, financial statement analysis and projection modeling
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) is required. Prior experience in datarooms (Intralinks, Debtdomain, Syndtrak, etc.), portfolio monitoring software (iLevel, Sentry) as well as other information databases (Pitchbook, Capital IQ) is beneficial

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a professional to oversee and manage a portfolio consisting of both directly originated and syndicated investments. Specific responsibilities of this individual will include:

Portfolio Analyst

  • Complete ongoing portfolio company monitoring responsibilities including in-depth analysis of financial performance and covenant compliance reporting
  • Lead the diligence, analysis, preparation and presentation of all post-close amendments, restructurings and add-on investments for existing Maranon portfolio companies to investment committee
  • Prepare materials for, and present in, Maranons monthly portfolio review and quarterly valuation meetings. Specific responsibilities include developing a data-supported view on borrower performance and outlook as well as utilizing Maranons valuation tools to derive quarterly fair market values
  • Join the Maranon investment deal team to coordinate pre-close and funding processes with legal counsel, borrowers and private equity sponsors
  • Serve as the primary contact for co-lenders, management teams, and private equity sponsors financial reporting, covenant monitoring and post-close credit activity
  • Work closely with Maranons investment, operations and investor relations teams to prepare recurring reports and ad hoc analysis detailing portfolio and fund performance

TIMING

Maranon is seeking to fill the position(s) for a Q3 2024 start date.
