The Carolina Hunger Initiative is based at the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Program Specialist will work with the Carolina Hunger Initiative on projects related to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) and USDAs Summer Nutrition Programs for Kids (SUN Programs), including SUN Bucks, SUN Meals, and SUN Meals To-Go. This position will support a variety of communications activities including developing and posting social media and website content; creating and distributing MailChimp email communications; filming and editing videos; and developing flyers, handout, presentation slides, and other communications resources. The Program Specialist will also coordinate, plan, and implement project-related events taking place across North Carolina. Additional duties may include assisting with the development and dissemination of program materials; providing technical assistance to SUN Meals and SUN Meals To-Go sponsors and sites; tracking project activities and completion of deliverables; coordinating and taking notes during meetings; providing nutrition education at events; and other duties as assigned. This position will collaborate with Carolina Hunger Initiative staff, interns, and partner organizations. The Program Specialist will travel across North Carolina to support project-related events, some of which are outdoors in the heat and require transporting large amounts of heavy supplies. Staff members must be able to rent and drive vehicles such as minivans and large SUVs to transport the supplies (rental vehicles are paid for by the project). Staff members must also be able to pack supplies, load/unload heavy items from vehicles, and assemble items. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelors degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Able to work well independently and as part of a team Dependable and adaptable Excellent written and oral communication skills Proficient in Canva and Microsoft Office/Office 365; particularly, Word, Excel and PowerPoint Valid Drivers License Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Knowledge and/or experience working on projects related to food security and federal nutrition programs, including USDA Summer Nutrition Programs for Kids and SNAP-Ed Experience using Facebook, Instagram, MailChimp, Photoshop, WordPress, and Microsoft Teams Graphic design skills Experience filming and editing videos Experience coordinating and planning events Familiarity with Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate Experience providing nutrition education Bilingual Spanish #J-18808-Ljbffr
