The primary role of the Project Manager at Jesse Co. is to provide the fabrication drawings and materials for assigned jobs/projects to the Shop in a reasonable time. A familiarization with these Engineering concepts will assist the individual in executing the job responsibilities:Structural steel designStructural materials, specifications, and propertiesHigh strength bolting and weldingFabrication inspectionThe tasks and responsibilities of this position, and the skills required may include:GeneralWork is performed in person, at Jesse Co. office, Tacoma, WAAttend project turnover meeting with the Sales & Estimating staff for a briefing on the project, on the selected significant material suppliers and subcontractors, the schedule, and the cost estimate.Assume the primary contact role with the customerPerform a detailed review of the project plans and specificationsPrepare or supervise preparation of shop drawings and purchase orders for raw materials, merchandise, and subcontracted servicesPerform a monthly progress estimate, or budget analysisManage the risk of each project by ensuring compliance with the project plans and specificationsReport to the Supervising Project ManagerScheduleDevelop and maintain a project schedule(s) with reference to the agreed delivery date, through dialogue with Jesse production management, subcontractors, and suppliers. Advise the customer as needed. The complexity of the project generally dictates the level of detail required.Vendors/SubsIdentify suitable vendors and subcontractors for raw materials, merchandise, and services drawings primarily on those entities previously identified during the estimating and bidding phasePrepare detailed purchase orders for raw materials and merchandise using an MRP system, including B.O.M.'s, and including CAD dataPrepare detailed purchase orders for subcontracted services, e.g. forming, painting, drafting, ensuring the relevant contract plans and specifications are included therinMonitor progress of vendors and subcontractors for adherence to quality, cost, and schedule requirementsCustomer RelationsMeet with customers periodically to identify potential barriers and develop resolutions and strategies that maximize production and minimize costsCultivate and maintain positive, productive relations with project team members, owners, engineers, architects, subcontractors, suppliers etc.As the Individual's counterpart at the customer level is often an engineer, utilize engineering knowledge where appropriate to protect Jesse's interestsDocument ControlEnsure all aspects of projects are properly and thoroughly documented to ensure Jesse's interests are protected. This may include customer requested changes, errors in the plans and specifications, and supplier performance issuesPrepare and route project submittals as specified with the contact specifications, including shop drawings, materials certifications, weld procedures, etc.Education/Experience Required3-5 years experience in Project Management, preferably in the fabrication, structural steel, or construction industry, OR, a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. General knowledge of:Fabrication and erection standards and proceduresAISC standards and AWS codesMicrosoft Office Suite, MS Project and MRP systemsBlueprint readingContracts and contract lawProven abilities in the areas of:NegotiationEffective communication, both verbal and writtenManaging multiple commercial and industrial projects simultaneouslyApplying construction principles and interpreting contract documentsAs a salaried exempt employee occasional use of one's personal vehicle may be appropriate, local area only, mileage reimbursed, as well as mobile phoneEOE
