GENERAL SUMMARY:

Oversee the spraying of all processing crops for weeds and insects. During off-season, involvement with the updating and keeping current all pesticide/fertilizer records, MSDS booklet, Sustainable Ag Program. Overhaul and repair of machinery and vehicles used in field operations as requested by management.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Focus on working safely and working to keep those around us safe.

* Administer the day-to-day spraying of processing crops for weeds, insects, and diseases.

* Inspect fields daily during the growing season to determine weed populations and crop diseases.

* Check insect traps daily to determine insect populations.

* Determine how to treat and spray fields.

* Guide all company spraying equipment and personnel to various locations.

* Direct contracted spraying services used for spraying crops.

* Repair/overhaul farm shop equipment as assigned by management.

* Oversee the planting of crops as directed by the Agricultural Manager.

* Look after all employees involved in the Company's pest management program.

* Assist in training of new field department employees as assigned by management.

* Enforce and abide by Company safety policies within the field department.

* Ensure employees maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner.

* Must have and maintain a clear driving record

* May perform other duties as assigned by management.

* Ensure employees follow Lakeside Foods established policies and procedures for their job as described in the training manual and orientation program.

* Notify the Field Department immediately if any unsafe or potential hazardous conditions are found. Take prompt action to correct conditions if within capabilities.

* Engage with supervision of seed variety selection, seed germ updates and seed distribution.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Knowledge:

* A minimum of two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Must be licensed by the State of Wisconsin as a Custom Pesticide Applicator.

* Should have knowledge of the operation, preventative maintenance, and repair of all field and spraying equipment.

* Must have strong interpersonal skills to ensure good grower relations.

* Knowledge of shop tools such as the drill press, welder, and cutting torch are beneficial.

* Should have specific knowledge of the pests, which may affect processing crops, and should be familiar with the detection and control methods for such pests.

* Must have working knowledge with Microsoft Window programs, Outlook, Word, Excel, computer programming.

* Knowledge of/or ability to learn SAP & ITA

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.

* The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
