About the OpportunityAustal and the Commonwealth of Australia are currently negotiating a landmark Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA) that will support the Continuous Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Enterprise and the delivery of multiple new defence force shipbuilding projects, such as Landing Craft-Medium and Landing Craft-Heavy for the Australian Army.Once signed, the SSA will drive significant growth across our industry and workforce, as we deliver both existing and new programs under a long-term partnership. It will also enable the design and construction of vessels at our Henderson shipyard and marks a major step forward in establishing enduring shipbuilding capability within the Henderson Defence Precinct and across Western Australia. To achieve this, we are building a highly skilled team, to engage with local industry and supply chains, and work on complex, large-scale projects that reflect Austals proven capabilities and trusted performance.As the Assistant Project Manager for the Landing Craft Heavy Program, the position will provide support to the Deputy Project Manager by utilising project management principles to successfully deliver project outputs. The outputs will support, vessel build, vessel support or project support requirements.Whats InvolvedSupport project teams in delivering outcomes aligned with cost, schedule, quality, and regulatory requirements.Assist in maintaining optimal staffing levels to balance performance needs with budget constraints.Provide cross-functional leadership to drive initiatives, actions, and successful project outcomes.Collaborate in developing and maintaining the project master schedule to ensure milestone delivery.Communicate clear task instructions to ensure timely and high-quality execution of project deliverables.Apply appropriate project management methodologies and tools in line with Austals standards.Prepare and manage project variations and change proposals in coordination with stakeholders.Support the implementation and governance of project reporting tools, including risk, finance, and performance tracking.Assist in the administration and analysis of Earned Value Management (EVM) data to ensure alignment with project baselines.Represent the Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager in meetings and communications as required.
