To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, the requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill set, and/or ability required.
- Graduate of a JRCERT accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Must be licensed by the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (LSRTBE) and achieve certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) within 90 days of graduation. Temporary work permit through LSRTBE acceptable; however permanent licensure and certification must be achieved within 90 days of graduation.
- Completed American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- One-year Radiologic Technologist experience in a hospital setting preferred.
- Ability to respond to and withstand frequent crisis situations.
- Positioning and turning of patients.
- Lifting of patients utilizing proper body mechanics.
- Stressful, constant standing or sitting, lifting supplies, carrying supplies, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities:
- Description of Duties:
Provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards to ensure optimal department functions:- Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of all equipment used for CT and intra-procedural imaging. Performs all CT procedures while exemplifying technical proficiency in producing high quality exams and demonstrating the anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning.
- Reviews provider orders, ensuring all order criteria area present and appropriate, checks for special instructions, and consults with the radiologists as necessary.
- Selects appropriate protocol and selects proper technical settings to maximize quality and safe patient care.
- Performs venipuncture including starting, maintaining, and/or removing intravenous access as required to properly administer contrast via hand or power injection, in accordance with dosing protocol and manufacturer guidelines regarding infusion rates and pressure.
- Demonstrates a satisfactory working knowledge of PACS, EMR, and any other software/portals required for image exchange.
- Assists in training new and current employees and students by discussion and demonstration.
- Communicates effectively with patient to obtain clinical history to ensure appropriate exam is completed and to assist the Radiologist in optimizing the interpretation of the exam. Reviews lab values and obtains appropriate POC labs as required and per policy/procedure.
- Pleasantly greets patients, confirms their correct identification using two patient identifiers and confirms correct procedure.
- Completely explains examination procedure to the patient and their family if present.
- Recognizes emergent situations and responds appropriately.
- Promotes patient safety in all actions.
- Knowledgeable and practices ALARA principles including proper shielding of patients as applicable.
- Completes quality control as required by policy/procedure and manufacturers guidelines.
- Performs visual inspection of equipment, identifies problems, and communicates to immediate manager any issues and appropriate actions taken, including AYS.
- Ability to manage up incident, errors, complaints, etc. to leadership for timely resolution.
- Assists in quality efforts in the objectives of the department and organization.
- Adheres to new, established, and revised procedures and new techniques to ensure compliance, consistent instruction, patient safety, and reliable care delivery.
- Works with IT to improve/enhance department specific functionality/workflows.
- Communicates pertinent information in a timely fashion.
- Ability to anticipate and meet the needs and expectations of patients and customers.
- Assess and identify processes, equipment, and/or educational needs of the assigned department.
- Promote actions that follow the 4C's including teamwork, effective interpersonal skills, cooperation, and respect.
- Participates in appropriate education and on-the-job learning situations to develop necessary job skills.
- Completes necessary continuing education to maintain licensure.
- Attends and completes annual competency training and completes mandatory education.
- Adheres to hospital and/or departmental policies on: attendance, dress code, infection prevention, environment of care, quality improvement, confidentiality.
- Follows North Oaks Health System's Compliance Programs and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.
- Performs all other duties as required or requested by Departmental Leadership.
