Description:The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for taking on some larger more complex projects along with other various projects and possibly some R&D. They will have to design custom material handling machines, meet with customers and design teams to determine mechanical applications and requirements. They will also have to work cross functionally with the sales team, Project Manager, and build team.They will have to design and engineer the machine which requires performing FEA using Solidworks Simulation and perform engineering calculations such as load and stress analysis, and utilize an ERP system to create, manage and modify bill of materials. They will be handling anywhere from 5-10 projects at any given time at different stages (approval, design, manufacturing or testing). They will spend most of their time at their desk but will also be working and interacting with the shop floor, especially during building and testing phases. Day to Day Responsibilities:-Meet with customers and design teams to determine mechanical applications and requirements-Conduct research to inform the design and engineering methods required for the mechanical systems-Plan and execute mechanical designs using Solidworks-Perform FEA's using Solidworks Simulation-Perform engineering calculations to support design work-Document the design process, iterations, and test analytics-Work with managers, designers, engineers, and manufacturers to ensure coherence-Prepare technical reports, design specifications documents and operational manuals-Use ERP system to create, manage, and modify engineering bills of materials-Do stress and load analysisProjects: They will initially be working several projects, but initially they will be supporting a Lift & Dump Drum Discharging System used for indoor use. They also manufacture material handling systems (Dischargers, Fillers, Conditioners, Dumping solutions for the pet industry, chemical industry, pharma industry, agriculture industry etc.)Skills & Qualifications:MUST HAVES:Mechanical Design experience using SolidworksHydraulic and Pneumatic experienceProficient in FEA for stress and load analysis (Solidworks Simulation)ERP experience (Create, modify, store the BOM and data)Experience leading entire teams and entire projects NICE TO HAVE:Mechanical Engineering DegreeMaterial Handling experienceBulk handling experienceAbout Actalent Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
