Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant plays a vital role in supporting the Controller in their role of oversight and financial management.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
  • Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
  • Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.
  • Produces payroll by initiating computer processing; printing checks, verifying finished product.
  • Completes external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
  • Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
  • Secures financial information by completing database backups.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to obtain necessary financial information and resolve discrepancies.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding financial transactions, records, and reports.
  • Provide support during audits by preparing documentation and assisting auditors with their inquiries.
  • Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accurate and reliable financial information.
  • Stay updated on relevant accounting regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field is preferred. Proven experience in accounting will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably as an accounting clerk.
  • Experience working in multiple legal entities.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial industry procedures.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
