Senior Propulsion Engineer

About Us:
Raytheon, a company with over 100 years of engineering expertise, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Propulsion Engineer to join our team. As a key member of the Energetics and Propulsion Department, you will lead the design, development, and testing of air breathing propulsion systems for missile defense systems. Your work will have a direct impact on the security and defense of our nation and its allies.
Responsibilities:
Assume full engineering authority within the air breathing propulsion discipline, leading the overall design, development, and test program from concept to missile flight test
Oversee cost and schedule responsibilities for suppliers within the Propulsion IPT
Present program status, accomplishments, and issues to RMD leadership and ensure alignment and teamwork within program
Support proposal efforts with major suppliers, partnering with supply chain to define future contract scope, schedule, and program start up
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related field and 10 years of relevant experience, or 7 years with an advanced degree
Expertise in air breathing propulsion system design and/or production, with experience in at least one of the following technical disciplines:
Propulsion architecture design and development including system performance analysis
Fuel delivery system, bladder, tank, and control subsystem
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) of the inlet, combustor, and nozzle, including coupled fluid interactions
Thermal management systems
Ground and flight tests
Experience managing a team of 3 or more in a technical capacity
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree as described above
Twelve or more years of experience in air breathing propulsion system design and/or production
Experience with customers and/or associated contractor executives and technical leadership
Experience with leading development across multiple program sites
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent presentation and proposal skills
