Description

We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Cost Accountant to join our growing finance team. As the heartbeat of our cost management efforts, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate cost accounting and financial analysis to support our manufacturing operations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to analyze production costs, identify opportunities for cost optimization, and provide valuable insights to enhance profitability and operational efficiency. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our manufacturing processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Requirements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze production costs and variance analysis to ensure accuracy and integrity of cost accounting records.
  • Monitor inventory levels and reconcile inventory accounts to maintain accurate inventory valuation.
  • Prepare and analyze standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead, ensuring alignment with actual manufacturing costs.
  • Lead periodic time study efforts.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities, including the preparation of cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory valuation reports.
  • Conduct regular audits of manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting support to management, including cost projections, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of cost accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist in the preparation of the COGS accounts for the annual budget and forecasting.
  • Lead annual physical inventory audit, liaising with external auditors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Experience working with an ERP/MRP system required.
  • Current expertise in: MS Office Suite (Advanced MS Excel required).
  • Experienced in and knowledgeable of GAAP.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required; MBA a plus.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience with cost accounting in large job, configured manufacturing environment.
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential a plus.
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to accurately exchange information with customers, co-workers, management, and vendors.
  • Occasionally moves files and boxes of records weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as copiers, printers, and telephones.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90% of the time.
