Job Description
SUMMARY
The Environmental, Health, and Safety Coordinator consults, shares and contributes safety and health information and resources. This position fulfills their duties, obligations, and directions with a professional and skilled manner. This position also collaborates with all departments to ensure that workplace hazards are identified and mitigated.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)
50% review of bi-annual JSA/JHA
Develop annual training programs in alignment with Behavioral Based Safety Leadership
Chair ESG Committee and set project goals and meet minimum 1x per month.
Chair Safety Committee and meet a minimum of 1X per month.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides subject matter expertise either through education, training, and/or experience in multiple areas including environmental management, compliance, occupational safety, risk management and/or occupational health.
Assist in the development and implementation of effective occupational health, safety, ergonomics and industrial hygiene programs, including health services functions and maintenance of related policy and procedures in accordance with Hoshizaki EHS program requirements.
Ensure OSHA compliance within the Hoshizaki Facility including but not limited to: Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT's); New Hire safety training and ongoing safety training; Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding and Chemical Safety; all necessary recordkeeping and reporting including OSHA 300 Logs
Assist management team during accident or injury investigations and root cause analysis.
Act as a subject matter expert for safety and security questions
Conduct New Hire EHS orientation and Coordinate onboarding EHS training with Supervision.
Assist with the development and implementation of the Annual EHS Training Schedule for frontline employees and supervisors.
Maintain legal, governmental and company environmental, health, medical and safety-related records according to standards, including confidentiality.
Ensure visibility of EHS initiatives at the site level (Behavior Safety, Safe Work Permit process, Safety Observations, Near Miss, Process Safety Management, etc) to all levels of operations management and recommend improvements in effectiveness.
Assist with any Regulatory inspections i.e. (OSHA, EPA, DOT, ISO), visits or investigations including recordkeeping and OSHA investigations.
Champion implementation of EHS Management systems (ISO 14001) by assisting with the development and management of ISO 14001 documentation and programs to include MOC, Mngt Review, Internal Auditing, etc.
Assist in managing all mandatory air, water, and waste compliance assurance-monitoring activities at the facility, including DOT.
Administer the plant hazard communication program, including maintaining up-to-date SDS's, effective identification of all chemicals, chemical inventory and related training and education programs.
Establish and maintain appropriate chemical inventory record systems to satisfy regulatory tracking requirements.
Assist with the site emergency action plan and liaison with local first responders - conduct drills, training, protocols, procedures.
Conduct a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) of all routine and non-routine tasks performed on-site
Demonstrate sound judgement based on observations and evaluation, by site, to determine safety meeting effectiveness and appropriate level of mentoring for safety meeting facilitators. Chair our Safety Committee and lead our committee in improving building conditions work practices.
Ensure that Contractor Safety Program is implemented/ in compliance
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree or 2 yr. college preferred.
Requires a minimum of 3 years of experience working in industrial / manufacturing health, safety, and environmental quality related activities.
OSHA 30 Hour Certificate or equivalent Safety related Certification
DOT General Awareness Training
Hazardous Materials Management
5 yrs experience in an Environmental Health and Safety related field
Hazard Analysis/Assessment experience
ISO 9000 and /or ISO 14000 or GMP experience
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS
Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to initiate and sustain productive business relationships
Excellent project management skills, including the identification and scheduling of project deliverables, milestones, tasks, and deadlines
Ability to effectively influence change and drive initiatives across the organization.
Solid presentation and negotiation skills with ability to present technical information
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to develop new ideas and provide innovative solutions
Ability to accomplish results within a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office
Significant interaction with team, some customers and vendors
Working knowledge various safety regulations or standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT.NFPA, ANSI, NEC, etc.).
PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work non-traditional hours or shifts.
Must have excellent verbal and written skills along with exceptional interpersonal skills.
Occasional manual labor that includes lifting, bending and reaching
