The Claim Supervisor is responsible for adjudication/review of claims in addition to oversight, training, and backup of internal/external claim processes(claims handled by TPAs). This role requires continuous identification and solution finding strategies to continuously improve and grow service experience to provide superior claims service to our customers.

Responsibilities

-Adjudicate claims (mainly excess Accident & Health Claims) within target turnaround times

-Analyze claims data and inform VP claims of any issues with possible solutions

- Supervises employees and provides file guidance. Assigns and checks work.

- Responsible for performance and coaching of staff and has a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selections, development, and performance management. Provides training to new members of the team.

-Generate new ideas to improve current protocols and improve customer satisfaction and service levels

-Accept personal responsibility for your tasks and actions in the claims department.

-Communicate efficiently with internal staff and external partners in response to all phone and email inquiries about claim-related questions within the target time frame

-Follow-through with contacts, claims, and other tasks assigned

-Document all claim activity and communication accurately and concisely in claim file

-Maintain updated claims guidelines as new protocols are defined

-Maintain updated SOPs for the processes within Claims

-Participates in internal and external quality audits

-Maintain in-depth working knowledge of company's systems and processes

-Complete job requirements in a manner consistent with the core values of Great American Insurance Company

-Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

-Must have significant experience in handling Accident & Health claims

-Generally 3 or more years of related experience, 2 years or more of leadership experience.

-Must have adjuster license for states which require licenses including NY, CA, HI

-Must have experience working with claim handling TPAs / vendors

-Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite especially spreadsheets for data analysis
