Position Summary: Serves as the primary advocate and spokesperson for the Academic Affairs division to the College and the community. The Vice President for Academic Affairs is accountable for all programs and activities of the College regarding (a) implementation of policies and decisions of the President and Board; (b) compliance with federal and state regulations; program and institutional accreditors and (c) maintenance of productive relationships with all segments of education, the community, legislators and other state agencies that have an interest in the work of the College. Primary duties include independent judgment in matters such as faculty selection, academic program viability, budget authorization, and student and community stakeholder relations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Academic Leadership:

Oversees all faculty, student, community education, and workforce development issues including all credit and non-credit instruction and/or training. Provides visionary leadership in the development, enhancement, and assessment of academic programs, ensuring they align with the College's mission and meet the needs of students and the community. Curriculum Development:

Oversees the development and revision of curricula, programs, and courses to promote academic rigor and relevance. Systematically monitors the revision, updating, and maintenance of existing programs ensuring compatibility with the College mission and compliance with both state regulatory and accreditation agencies. Manages the program review and assessment of student learning processes. Policy Development:

Develops, implements, and reviews academic and related policies and procedures to ensure they are up-to-date and in compliance with state and federal regulations. Accreditation and Assessment:

Leads accreditation efforts and oversees program assessment to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and continuous improvement in academic quality. Provides leadership in the writing of annual reports required by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, required correspondence with the Ohio Department of Education and various accreditors. Student Success: Implements strategies to enhance student retention, persistence, and success. Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies that relate to student and academic affairs. Serves as Chairperson of the Council for Academic and Student Affairs (CASA). Provides leadership in planning, assessing, and improving academic services to meet the College’s mission and strategic plan. Budget Management:

Manages the Academic Affairs budget effectively, allocating resources strategically to support academic initiatives. Directs planning, allocation and use of fiscal resources within academic divisions and staff departments, ensuring alignment with College mission and strategic plan. Faculty and Staff Development: Recommends and appoints faculty and staff as employees of the College. Fosters a culture of excellence and innovation among faculty and staff through professional development, mentoring, and support. Provides leadership for the development of professional development activities for faculty and staff, including the integration of education technology. Coordinates the faculty/administration committee (Fac/Ad). Strategic Planning:

Collaborates with senior leadership to develop and implement academic strategic plans that align with the College's overall mission and strategic plan. Facility Planning:

Leads the development of academic capital plans to ensure that facilities, instructional technology, and program equipment planning projects are prepared for budgeted, capital, grant and private funding initiatives to prove the best learning and training facilities possible for our stakeholders. Community Engagement:

Cultivates partnerships with local industries, organizations, and community leaders to align academic programs with workforce needs and community development. Provides leadership for the development and implementation of workforce training and community education. Completes other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsibilities include collaborating with the HR office for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; resolving problems; participating in faculty contract negotiations. Education and Work Experience: Master’s degree required; an earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution preferred. Knowledge of Ohio's higher education landscape is beneficial. A pattern of progressively responsible administrative experience in academic or student affairs is required. Experience with accreditation processes and program assessment. Teaching experience at a two-year college preferred Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Background in the areas of distance education, allied health programs, career and technology education, guided pathways, articulation agreements, unique college partnerships, student success, academic assessment, and workforce development preferred. Other Skills and Abilities: Effective verbal and written communication skills Effective analytical skills to interpret data Effective problem-solving skills Strong interpersonal skills Strong leadership skills to motivate employees Knowledge of fund accounting, budgeting, finance, and resource management Knowledge of labor relations, contract negotiations, and business law Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications Policy and procedure development
