Job Title: Phase I/Program Coordinator

Summary of Job Duties: The Phase I/Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, planning, and implementing the program content of Phase I. Supervises the Motivational Track Coordinator, Assistant staff and volunteers.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or its equivalent. College experience or CADC preferred. Work experience may substitute for college degree. If in recovery, 2 years of continuous sobriety and working an active recovery program is required. Familiarity with women's issues (parenting, mental health, domestic violence, etc.) and chemical dependency treatment preferred. Complete the 28 written lessons of Recovery Dynamics and/or complete Recovery Dynamics training. Submit to and pass a criminal record check and a drug screening test.

Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am until 5:00 pm Evening and weekend hours may be required.

This position reports directly to the Program Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Include the following:

  • Fulfills the responsibilities of the Assistant Staff when necessary:
    a. Teach or assist in teaching the Recovery Dynamics sessions.
    b. Initiate client's file, which includes (but is not limited to) client
    contracts, needed releases, intake paperwork, assessments,
    psychosocial information, client progress notes, homework
    assignments, copies of any applicable incident reports, referrals
    made to clients (whether client accepts them or not), consultations
    with other agencies/individuals about client needs, and other
    pertinent documentation.
    c. Keep client's file documentation up-to-date.
    d. Complete client's orientation into each new phase as they progress
    through program; go over Recovery Dynamics' lessons with client.
    e. Document client's progress (or lack of) while in program.
    f. Monitor the general health of clients, and refer to health service
    providers when necessary.
    g. Share on-call responsibilities.
    h. Work in areas as assigned by Program Director (including S.O.S.)
    i. Complete all required shift documentation.
  • Coordinates, plans and implements the program content of Phase I. Facilitates community meetings, obtains outside speakers for open classes, counsels with clients, maintains liaison with AA/NA community, monitors progress of each client, etc.
  • Supervises Motivational Track Coordinator and provides consultation regarding MT Program content.
  • Provides assistance and consultation regarding Phase II Program content.
  • Supervises Assistant Staff and volunteers. Develops orientation to role, performance guidelines and contracts. Oversees job responsibilities.
  • Teaches open classes.
  • Collaborates with other Program Coordinators/Case Managers in program development and client consultation. Provides counseling, feedback, and education to all clients in collaboration with other members of the Management Team.
  • Serves as a member of Management Team. In cooperation with team, creates and maintains a consistent and nurturing environment for all clients.
  • Participates in treatment team discussion.
  • Performs responsibilities and tasks of the Program Director in his/her absence.
  • Performs other responsibilities at the direction of the Program Director.
  • Coordinates Transitional Ceremony.
  • Coordinates Life Skills training.
  • Participates in scheduled trainings and meetings.
  • Respond to emergency situation in a timely fashion. Make decisions quickly on available information and take action. Deal appropriately with emergencies following all established facility protocols and procedures.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with other team members, as part of a multidisciplinary team, and independently, when necessary.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Knowledgeable of the mission of the Cumberland River RHOAR, its recovery model, and its code of conduct, and attempts to further the goals and mission of the Agency.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions or may be off-site from normal office location.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.

Environmental Data and Job Hazards:
  • Hours of work are structured 8.0 hour blocks of time but may be subject to irregular and/or flexible hours based on needs or demands.
  • Position may require duties to include routine or reasonable anticipated tasks or procedures where there is a degree of actual or potential exposure to blood or other infectious materials.
  • All staff are required to participate in yearly trainings regarding infection control and safety in the environment including hazardous waste and blood borne pathogens.
  • All new staff must attend training regarding handling physical, verbal threats, acts of violence or other escalating and potential dangerous situations including when police need to be summoned.
  • All staff must be certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation within one month of employment and maintain the certification, if providing direct care.
