Summary:
The Advanced Enterprise Global Information Technology Solutions [AEGIS] contract will culminate in a fundamental reshaping of the way NASA provisions and consumes IT services. AEGIS will support operations and maintenance of NASA communications infrastructure, end-to-end seamless communications network and infrastructure that encompasses both WAN and Center LAN, telecommunications, cybersecurity support, on premise and managed cloud data center resources, online collaboration tools, cable plant, emergency and early warning and notification systems, telephony, and radio systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The role of Systems Administrator is a hands-on technical position joining a seasoned and diverse team of information technology professionals supporting mostly a Linux environment with a small handful of Windows systems mixed in.

Perform Linux/Unix system administration including troubleshooting, fault isolation, system tuning, software installation, maintenance.

Identify and implement system and process-level improvements including providing recommendations to purchase and then implementing hardware and software solutions.

Ideal candidate must be able to grasp a wide range of unique skills and be able to think and respond quickly to real-time problems as they arise.

Candidate must have strong multi-tasking skills to effectively meet task objectives.

Participate in an on-call rotation providing off-hours support.
Basic Qualifications:

VMWare ESXi hypervisors

Some scripting experience with Perl, Bash, Python, etc.

TCP/IP and network protocols including DNS, SMTP, SNMP, ICMP, SSH, RADIUS, and LDAP

Self-disciplined and self-motivated

Demonstrated analytical and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting Federal systems including FISMA Certification and Accreditation

Managing software and hardware deployment projects.

Experience with vmware, Postfix, Apache, mysql, mrtg, Nagios, Microfocus NMMi & Network Automation, Splunk, high-availability server clusters, and Juniper Northstar.
Clearance Requirements:

Candidate(s) must possess or be eligible to pass a Tier 2 Public Trust investigation (or higher).

Performs work that requires expert practical experience and training.
Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including
virtual, cloud, as well as web servers, in support of business
Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services.
Develops and promotes standard operating procedures.
Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
BS degree in Computer Science or related area.
A valid drivers license, and reliable transportation.
12 years experience as a systems administrator with progressively responsible positions.
