Job Details

Our company is seeking a seasoned Tax Analyst, Tax Accountant, or Staff Accountant to join our team in the energy industry. As a Tax Analyst, you will be responsible for managing all tax-related matters for our company. You will work closely with our finance and accounting teams to ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations in multiple states. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in tax accounting and a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file quarterly and annual tax returns
  • Manage tax payments and ensure timely and accurate payments
  • Analyze tax returns and identify potential areas for improvement
  • Conduct research on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance with all applicable laws
  • Manage fuel tax, gross receipts, sales and use tax, and other tax-related matters
  • Work with state auditors to resolve any tax-related issues
  • Participate in special projects related to tax planning and analysis
  • Manage tax-related documentation and ensure that all records are accurate and up-to-date
  • Provide support to other departments on tax-related matters as needed
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field HIGHLY preferred, will substitute experience for degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax accounting
  • Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations
  • Experience working with multiple jurisdictions
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
