Description Summary of the position: The product manager is tasked with achieving sustained growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction for his/her defined product line in support of the company’s overall strategy and goals. This involves working at both a strategic and tactical level across all relevant markets/channels and regions. The ideal candidate would come in with experience in manufacturing or industrial automation, IoT platforms, and/or control systems. The Product Manager – Controls and IOT is responsible for defining our strategy and roadmap for capturing value with our controls and IOT strategy. It will focus on our value proposition, go-to-market strategy, channel partnering, and solution landscape to create a lifetime connection and experience with customers. Activities include developing a product roadmap, conducting competitive benchmarking, identifying, and filling product gaps, leading cross-functional teams in developing new products and digital solutions, managing product cost and profitability, monitoring and adapting the product portfolio strategy for connected product strategy, and providing support for commercialization, pricing, sales and training. Duties and responsibilities: Engage directly with customers and partners to identify needs and requirements, in order to develop a product roadmap for the controls, IOT and connected products space Oversee the product life cycle and manage the development, profitability, and market share growth of assigned products categories. Support project teams with deep insights on controls functionality, app experience, digital tools, sensor technologies, data solutions, etc. Define and drive the product roadmap for the part of the portfolio that focuses on controls, IOT and our digital offerings. Develop digital service initiatives for or partners and customers. Support project teams with deep insights on controls functionality, IOT strategy, app experience, digital tools, sensor technologies, data solutions, etc. Gather and analyze market, customer and competitor intelligence to identify and quantify opportunities for growth and margin expansion Define value proposition / product differentiation that provides competitive advantage Develop business cases and determine feasibility to achieve revenue growth and profitability targets in support of business strategy Collaborate internally and externally to scope & define product requirements Gather and analyze product performance, including financial, technical and operational data to identify and quantify opportunities for growth, new product and existing product improvement opportunities Ensure products meet specifications & agency certifications Drive both technical and commercial innovation Collaborate with sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to develop product definitions responsive to customer needs and marketing opportunities Provide technical and commercial support to Sales and Operations as required Assist with development of promotional strategies based on marketing research and competitive analysis; implement these strategies in conjunction with Sales and Marketing to establish and maintain market position. Coordinate with Marketing Communications to facilitate marketing and sales collateral and strategies Support promotion internally and externally with customers, partners, & media Qualifications: Education

: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Related / Equivalent field MBA preferred Professional experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in industrial/manufacturing/capital equipment environment 5+ years of experience in product management, marketing, sales, and engineering related fields. Minimum 5 years experience within the industrial controls or in technical role(s) responsible for defining and/or implementing connectivity, controls, monitoring or analytics related services and solutions Understanding of IoT concepts, architectures, and industry standards Understanding of controls, control strategies, and control architecture Experience with operating in a matrixed organization including cross-departmental initiatives required Experience with compressors/rotating equipment preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities New product development process or stage-gate development process Product strategy and product roadmap development Product line Profit & Loss (P&L) management and forecasting Business case development Strategic product pricing Product launch and product lifecycle management Product marketing and channel strategy development Product value engineering tools and techniques Team management, cross functional team experience, matrix management experience Divergent thinking, Courage, Creativity Supplier contract negotiation Key behaviors: Planning and organization Influence and negotiation Communication for understanding Collaboration across boundaries Customer insight and curiosity Information analysis Improvement and innovation mindset Decision making and risk taking Business and financial acumen Holds themselves accountable for results Direct reports: N/A The successful candidate is responsible for complying with Hitachi Global Air Power US Code of Ethics and related policies.
