Pharmacists Pharmacists at Hannaford Supermarkets play a vital role in the pharmacy department. They partner with store managers and other associates to ensure professional and business operations. Pharmacists identify sales and marketing opportunities, supervise pharmacy associates, and ensure adequate staffing and training. They must adhere to company policies and perform immunizations according to company standards. Pharmacists must maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance and communicate effectively within the department and throughout the organization. They work within company management planning guidelines to maintain productivity and support company safety standards. Qualifications include a degree from an accredited school of pharmacy, successful completion of criminal background check and drug testing, a current license in good standing, and active immunizing pharmacist certification. Pharmacists must have complete knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to pharmacy practices. They should be motivated, caring professionals with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, associates, and the community. Pharmacists must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and handle multiple priorities while providing direction to associates. They must possess high levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Authorization to fill Medicare and Medicaid prescriptions is required. Physical requirements include standing 100% of the time with occasional walking, handling various sizes of containers, manipulating pills/capsules, and using equipment to count them. Pharmacists must have clerical accuracy skills, use a cash register, and frequently use staplers, calculators, communication, and computer systems. They must frequently reach, grasp, lift, and carry up to 10 lb. below the waist level and at or above shoulder level, and bend at the knees and waist repetitively up to 30% of the workday. Pharmacists work an average schedule of 11.5 hours a day and 3.5 days a week, with sufficient visual acuity and audio capability to process prescriptions and service customers by phone and in person.
